Our Mission to Empower Women in Trasnport & Logistics.

The transport and logistics industry is the backbone of our world—moving goods, connecting communities, and shaping economies. Yet across these essential sectors, the voices of women remain largely unheard. Roads & Resilience is our answer to that silence.

The Purpose Behind Roads & Resilience

Our blog exists for one clear reason: to lift up the stories of women in transport and logistics and showcase how they’re reshaping this vital industry. We’re here to:

  • Share real journeys—highlighting women breaking barriers from truck drivers to operations managers.

  • Build a supportive community—where connections, mentorship, and shared insights thrive.

  • Inspire the next generation—because seeing women lead sparks possibility.

  • Drive change—by advocating for equal representation and reshaping perceptions industry-wide.

This is more than a blog—it’s a collective path toward an inclusive, resilient future.

Why It Matters

Representation isn't just symbolic—it matters. Here’s what the numbers tell us:

  • As of 2021, women make up only 27.4% of Australia’s transport workforce across rail, road, sea, and air.

  • Transport CEOs: just 4.5% are women, compared to 20% across all sectors.

  • Gender pay gap in transport stands at 15.9%, above the national average of 13.9%

  • Female truck drivers? Only about 3–4% of the roughly 200,000 in Australia are women.

These stats show the gap—but they also highlight the urgent need and opportunity for change. And the change is happening:

  • Michael Byrne (former Linfox & Toll CEO) notes how increasing female participation has transformed logistics—from extended shopping hours to overnight delivery models—making the industry more dynamic and adaptable.

  • Transportation roles once seen as physically demanding are now more accessible, thanks to automation and equipment advances.

  • Industry initiatives like the Women in Logistics Consortium and Women in Transport Network are accelerating progress by offering mentorship, networking, and executive accountability.
